Indonesia, ranked 5th as the country with the highest number of internet users as of December 2017, definitely has a big amount of social media users. This is caused by the big amount of Indonesia’s citizen and the global culture where everybody needs to communicate with each other. Living solitaire in Indonesia is almost impossible due to it’s social condition.
This social media ‘situation’ is a great chance for having your own digital marketing strategy. Every owner of a social media account have a possibility to do digital marketing of their own. The question is ‘how’. There are some easy ways to do digital marketing, dividing it into two main point, hard marketing and soft marketing.
In hard marketing, the account owner directly offer a product in the social media wall. If the account set for friends only, then it’ll only be seen by the account owner’s friends. If it’s set for public, then all social media user will be able to see it.

But sometimes, doing marketing this way will make many friends dislike us, because it’s considered disturbing. The worst case? They’ll block us. They’ll offer an advertising program, usually being a paid-program, so that it can be win-win solution.
In soft marketing, the account owner will have to find the right market for their product. Then they will share useful quotes, status, tips, picture, or anything else that is useful and targeted. Targeted means the marketing strategy explains the product, but it is not a hard marketing. This activity is named branding. Learn to make a content that is worth to be shared by people and might becomes viral.
The next step of soft marketing is to quickly befriend the target market and don’t forget to respond them when needed. It’s okay to say hello, send birthday greetings, or give likes and comments to a buyer’s statuses. This activity can surely build a good relationship. While a quick response is necessary to do when someone asks about the product, request it, or gives comment on it.
Use your social media wisely and productively, give the audience a good and worth-to-see content with your own personal colors, making yourself different, standing out from the others. Make your social media account as your personal money machine. Why not?
